The Division of Urology eagerly welcomes third-year medical students who would like to rotate on the service. We have a very busy operative and outpatient clinic. The clerkship rotation is typically for three weeks. Medical students are expected to make rounds with the residents in the morning and evening. During the day, the students will either scrub in the OR to learn surgical principles or shadow an attending in the clinic to learn the principles of urologic outpatient care. Medical students’ schedules can be flexible and adjusted according to their subspecialty interest. All students are expected to attend urology educational conferences that meet on Wednesday mornings.
All students are expected to read the handouts and watch the videos that accompany the “National Urology Medical Student Curriculum.” The National Medical Student Core Curriculum is a web-based course that is available on the American Urological Association website.
