Deciding between two lung cancer therapies
For several years, thoracic surgeons and radiation oncologists have been trying to resolve the question of how to treat some patients with early-stage lung cancer. If patients are otherwise healthy, surgeons perform mininally invasivce surgery to remove the tumor, and if they have complicating conditions that preclude surgery, stereotactic body radiation is the treatment of choice. But for patients between the two extremes, which treatment is best?
